She gave me the name of their club director so I could learn how to become a speaker for their ministry foundation. I was in awe! I knew the person whose name she gave me! An important woman from my past.
Carlene and Eddie were mine and my husband's youth group leaders as young teenagers. They even planned a fall weekend retreat for the youth group my 8th grade year of Junior High. It was during that retreat I accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior. Incidentally, the guy who would become my husband was also in the same youth group, was on that same retreat, AND accepted Christ that weekend too! When we are asked to give our testimony, he says, "Ditto her." That was 40 years ago! My husband and I weren't even a couple interested in one another then.
I could not wait to call Carlene, one instrumental in leading me to Christ and let her know the seed she had sown is still sowing. Even though I had not talked to her since my high school years, she remembered both myself and my husband. I really can't say who was blessed more by our conversation. It seemed God had brought it full circle for both of us, for me to tell her thank you, and for her to see the blessing from the seed she had sown.
I am hoping some day she will see the presentation of the quilt, but, too, I want to give her a great big hug!
