However, we began to get aggravated at having to cancel our plans marked on the calendar. Things such a party, a couple of luncheons, watching the grandchildren, and a day trip to the Covered Bridge Festival. Actually, Tom was totally fine with eliminating the latter. Crowds are not his thing. He goes because he knows I enjoy it. But, everything else we were really looking forward to. It may sound as though we pack too much into our days, but this is not the norm for us. These were missed opportunities to spend time with others. We began whining the sick-of-being-sick blues.
I was in pity-party mode. Poor little me. I bought into Satan's excuse, "You're sick. God doesn't expect you to spend time with Him today."
What a lie.
I finally recognized my wrong and called upon the Healer to forgive me and make us well. Tom and I prayed scriptures of healing over one another. Immediately, our spirit was healed, and, eventually, our bodies when we proclaimed our faith and trust in the Name of the Healer, Jesus Christ.
We have a Comforter who is with us always. He is far better than the quilted one Tom and I snuggled with together. The Greek word for Comforter is paraclete. The root word para means "close by". The Comforter is the Holy Spirit, who is more than close by; He dwells within each believer. That knowledge alone should bring us great comfort!
who have been called according to his purpose." ~ Romans 8:28
One would never jump out of an airplane without a PARAchute to assist them with a safe landing.
One would never reject the aid of a PARAmedic in an emergency.
I never again want to ignore the PARAclete, my Comforter, who is with me always.
Forgive me for wallowing in self-pity and neglecting time with You. Thank you for using this time to teach me something new about You. You alone have the healing power over mind, body, and soul. In the name of Jesus; Healer, Advocate, Comforter, Amen.
